Mission Statement
The mission of East Alton Middle School is to work in partnership with parents and community members to help youth become self-sufficient citizens who possess the self-esteem, motivation and skills to become successful, responsible participants in a rapidly changing society.
I firmly believe that educators do have a mission that they must, with all their energy and compassion, strive to fulfill. Most schools across the nation have adopted a so-called Mission Statement. Unfortunately, those words have become lost. It is our job to ensure that our Mission is just not words, but have it serve as a goal for each and every one of us.
My vision for East Alton Middle School is to fulfill our mission. This is what I believe our mission statement says:
- "The mission of East Alton Middle School is to work in partnership with parents and community members…" :TEAM APPROACH
- "…to help youth become self-sufficient citizens…" : INDEPENDENCE
- "…who possess the self-esteem, motivation and skills to become successful, responsible participants…" : VALUE TO SOCIETY
- "… in a rapidly changing society." : ADAPTABLE
In order to fulfill this mission, parents, grandparents, guardians, members of the community, and staff at East Alton Middle School must constantly ask the following question: As a TEAM, what are we doing to ensure our students become VALUBLE members of society, who can ADJUST on THEIR OWN to an unpredictable future and fulfill their own desires and purpose?
Let us remember that our mission should always focus on what is best for the students. I look forward to working with you to ensure that our mission, while never complete, is successful.
