110% Award
The Unified Arts Team nominates Lexie McGuiggan as the January 2012 East Alton Middle School 110% Award Winner. Lexie is an excellent student, and a good friend to others. She tries hard in all of her classes, as well as her extracurricular activities.
Lexie is an active member of the band, and comes prepared to work every time. She is always willing to put in extra effort, and help those around her. In class, she is very successful academically, as she is an A student who has made honor roll each semester.
Lexie also puts forth great effort in PE, and is always prepared for class. She sets a great example for those around her by being prepared and having a positive attitude. She practices the three Bullet points of being respectful, responsible, and safe on a daily basis. East Alton Middle School is a better place because Lexie is a student here!
Kayla Hewlett is EAMS’ 110% Award winner for the month of December. Kayla is a very well rounded student-athlete who takes the three bullet points to heart and is a model of how they are important in all aspects of our school. Kayla is a respectful young woman of not only her teachers, but towards her peers and herself. She is very considerate of others’ feelings and quick to help anyone she can.
Kayla is very responsible, as she understands that even though she is a three sport athlete (cross country, track, and volleyball) at EAMS, she is first and foremost a STUDENT-athlete. Kayla takes her school work very seriously and works hard to be on the honor roll. She is always well prepared for whatever class or activity she is in and is willing to help others.
While doing all of these things, Kayla was also able to represent EAMS at the IESA State Track Meet the last two years. Last year, as a 7th grader, Kayla placed 2nd in the high jump at the State Meet.
