Mrs. Campbell's class would like to nominate Trinity G for our Outstanding Oiler of Caring. Our class said that Trinity deserves this award because she always shows kindness towards others. She asks how everyone is doing or if she can help in anyway. She smiles at people in the hallway and lends a helping hand when needed. She also shows that she cares about her school work. She takes her time to nice and neat work. I am so proud to have such a caring student like Trinity in my class. Keep up the great work!

Aleah the Outstanding Oiler of Caring for Ms. Baker's class. Ms. Baker says she is always caring about other students' feelings and makes everyone feel included. She never lets any classmate play or work alone. Aleah supports all of her friends with their accomplishments and helps everyone that needs help or support with something. Aleah is the first to always ask her friends how their weekends were or how she can help. She also follows all classroom and school rules and oftentimes nicely reminds others to do so. Aleah is an extremely caring and loving student, and we are so lucky to have her in our class! Go Aleah!

Clayvon is the Outstanding Oiler of Caring for Mrs. Key's class. Mrs. Keys says has a huge heart with room to spare. He is kind and loving towards everyone, always encourages others to do their best, and is the first student to check on someone else if they are upset. Clayvon very rarely has anything harsh to say about others, but instead sees the good in them. He is an excellent friend to have and always gives the best hugs.

East Alton School District 13 plans to reopen tomorrow, Thursday, January 9, 2025. However, we urge everyone to exercise caution and patience as we navigate post-weather conditions: • Walkers and Drivers: It may take several days for sidewalks in the neighborhood to be fully cleared. Please give plenty of room to anyone walking along the side of the street. • Traffic: Expect additional traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times. Your patience is greatly appreciated. • Bus Routes: Some bus routes may experience delays, so please plan accordingly. Finally, we extend our gratitude to our custodial and maintenance teams for their hard work in preparing our buildings and grounds to welcome students and staff back to school safely.

East Alton District 13 Families, After careful consideration of the current weather conditions and the impact on student safety, we will make tomorrow, Wednesday, January 8th, a remote learning day for all students. While this does not set a precedent for closing school solely due to low temperatures, the combined factors of low temperatures, the dangers of walking to school with compacted snow, and challenges with bussing create a situation where prioritizing safety is essential. K-3 devices/packets are still being distributed today until 5:30 for those who need to pick up materials for their child. With today being a snow day, we will need to make this day up at the end of the school year. Adjustments will be made and the change in the calendar will be communicated. The move to e-learning days will count towards student attendance days and will not need to be made up. Thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate these decisions with safety as our primary focus. Click on the link below to access your child’s e-learning class schedule and Google Meet link to meet with teachers virtually. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1V3y36gidMitNjwQr-1T3VOej037s3VTwjd-p0El39tQ/edit?usp=sharing
