Amelia is Mrs. Belloso's class Outstanding Oiler, Focused on Strong Together. Ameilia does a wonderful job working with others during partner and small group work. Mrs. Darr selected Bennett as her class Outstanding Oiler of Teamwork. Bennett is helpful and a good team player. He is always picking up multiple pieces of playground equipment when it is time to go in from recess. He works well with any group I put him in and is a good partner during partner reading. We are lucky to have Bennett as part of our class.

Ethan is Mrs. Naylor and Mrs. Green's Outstanding Oiler of Teamwork for the month of May. All year, he has shown what a hard-working student looks like, as well as being a wonderful teammate in our classroom. Ethan sets a great example for others by consistently making good choices and doing what is expected of him. He is kind to his classmates, works well with everyone, and always shows a positive attitude. Ethan’s strong listening skills and teamwork help make our classroom a positive place to learn! Way to go Ethan!

Mrs. Naylor and Green are proud to choose Eli as our Outstanding Oiler for teamwork this month! Eli shows excellent teamwork every day in our classroom. He is always willing to help others and works kindly with his classmates. Whether he's working in a group or with a partner, Eli listens carefully and makes sure students feel included. He's a great role model by taking turns and encouraging others. Because of his positive attitude and caring actions, Eli helps make our classroom a better place. We are so proud of Eli! Keep up the amazing work!

Lydia is Mrs. Darr's class Outstanding Oiler of Teamwork. Lydia has had a wonderful first year at Eastwood. She encompasses all of the traits of an Outstanding Oiler. She is caring, kind, a team player, and respectful and responsible. Lydia works hard and gives her best effort. She is a friend to everyone. Congratulations Lydia!

Play Day

Mrs. Kribs and Mrs. McBride selected Mason as the Outstanding Oiler of Teamwork. Mason shows teamwork everyday in class. He is always encouraging to his friends and will cheer them on for all of their hard work. He has the biggest heart and wants to see all of his classmates succeed. He is great at taking turns and making sure everyone feels included!

Viroon is Ms. Lee's Outstanding Oilier of Teamwork. Viroon is always encouraging others around him. When we are working in teams in our classroom, he always helps his team when they need help. He is a great leader and someone that many students look up to! He shows great teamwork in my class.

Annabelle is an excellent example of teamwork in Mrs. Staten's classroom. She is a friend to all and works cooperatively with any group of which she is a part. Annabelle actively participates in class, contributing to problem-solving and demonstrating a willingness to take risks, even when she is unsure. Her calm and friendly demeanor helps create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and valued. Thank you, Annabelle, for being such a positive example of collaboration and teamwork!

Zayn is Mrs. Brueggeman's class Outstanding Oiler of Teamwork. Zayn is a very hard worker. He loves to work together with his classmates. He does great during group work and always makes sure everyone is included.

Mrs. Hinnen's Outstanding oiler for strong together is Raheem. Raheem has shown so much growth this year and we are so proud of him. I hope he continues to grow and learn the rest of the year. He will be great next year at middle school.

Mrs. Schranck and Ms. Fietsam have chosen Colton as our Outstanding Oiler of stronger together because he consistently demonstrates “Stronger Together” traits by working well with classmates, showing kindness and respect, and encouraging others to do their best. He contributes positively to group activities. His cooperative attitude and willingness to support others help create a welcoming and successful learning environment for everyone. Mrs. Jones recognized Alex as our Outstanding Oiler for demonstrating what it truly means to be "Strong Together." Alex consistently shows kindness, teamwork, and a willingness to support others, helping create a positive and inclusive environment for everyone. Whether it’s lending a helping hand, encouraging classmates, or leading by example, Alex reminds us that we are stronger when we work together. Congratulations, Alex! Sophia is Mrs. Wille and Mrs. McBride's Outstanding Oiler of Growth Mindset, consistently demonstrating a strong growth mindset in everything she does. She approaches challenges with a positive attitude, keeps trying even when things feel difficult, and takes pride in her progress. Sophia is always willing to learn from her mistakes and encourages others to do the same, making her a wonderful example of perseverance and determination.

Mrs. Schranck and Ms. Fietsam have chosen Emma as our Outstanding Oiler for having a Growth Mindset. We chose Emma because she shows an outstanding growth mindset by embracing challenges and learning from feedback. She stays positive, pushes beyond her comfort zone, and uses every experience as an opportunity to improve. Her determination and attitude inspire others to do the same. Keep up the great work, Emma! Dear East Alton SD 13 Families,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Mrs. Kelly Booten. Mrs. Booten was a kindergarten teacher at Eastwood Elementary School. Mrs. Booten was a beloved member of our school community and will be greatly missed.
The loss of a teacher can have a profound impact on students as they learn of Mrs. Booten’s death. Students may have a particularly difficult time in dealing with this loss, and we encourage you to talk with your child about their feelings. Grief counselors will be available at Eastwood Elementary and East Alton Middle Schools this week from 8:00am-2:35pm to assist those in need of support.
Please join me in extending our heartfelt sympathy to the Booten family during this incredibly difficult time. Your support is greatly appreciated as we mourn the death of the passing of a truly passionate, dedicated teacher who so greatly impacted our community.
Please note that there will be NO school on Tuesday, May 5 ,2026 to allow staff to attend the services for Mrs. Booten.
